Plymouth Complementary Massage Therapist – Vivienne Blackney

I am a qualified Complementary Massage Therapist. Complementary therapies have been a life-long interest of mine and through personal experience I know how amazing complementary therapies can be for releasing stress, tension and relieving anxiety. I was given a Reflexology session as a present when I lived in Bristol. At that time I was going through a very stressful period at work. During the treatment I became totally relaxed, into a semi-sleep state. Immediately after the treatment I could do nothing but sleep! Now I know that Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage can produce some powerful contra-actions, which show that the body is releasing its stress and tension and rebalancing itself. My sleep patterns improved and I felt less anxiety after the treatment.

Complementary Therapies include:

  • Aromatherapy – a gentle, relaxing massage using a blend of essential oils to suit the client.
  • Reflexology – a complementary therapy that involves gentle pressure being applied to reflex points on the feet. A Reflexology treatment is an opportunity to take some much needed time out and relax, rebalance and re-energise your body and your mind. The gentle foot massage induces relaxation and promotes physical and emotional wellbeing. It can be used to help with the symptoms of: Stress, Migraine, Sinusitis, Eczema, IBS, PMT.
  • Indian Head Massage – a form of massage that can be practiced through the clothes or directly onto the skin using oils. It is performed on the shoulders, neck, face and scalp.
  • Deep Tissue Massage – a much deeper massage, it works using, thumbs, wrists, forearms and elbows to stretch out and release muscles that are shortened and tense. It helps to free up your body and improves flexibility. Each massage is different, and tailored to suit the individual and work on specific areas of pain, knots or tension.
  • Sports Massage – If you dance, cycle, run, play football or rugby in fact any type of sport you can benefit from sports massage. Sport massage works on a deeper level in the tissues and includes neuromuscular techniques and stretching to help improve performance.
  • Reiki – an energy therapy, a method of hands on healing. Reiki is a very gentle treatment that works on different levels, emotional, spiritual and physical. It is great for absolutely anyone and is one of the few treatments that have no contra-indications. So people who cannot usually have other types of treatment such as massage or Reflexology, can benefit from Reiki. For example, women in the first stages of pregnancy, people with Heart conditions or those with Diabetes. It is a great treatment for anyone and especially helpful for those who are going through a stressful time.

Gift vouchers are also available in multiples of £5.00 for any of our therapies for that special person in your life!
